Men's Suits For Warm Weather
As work travel starts up again, many northerners will be heading south to warmer climates for conferences and face-to-face meetings. At least that's what we've heard from many of our clients lately. As such, we're bringing you some tips on warm weather suiting that will help you to look your best and feel comfortable while you're at it.
Wearing a suit in hot and humid weather can be a drag, but it doesn't have to be. Thereβs always a give and take with warm weather suiting. If you go with a really lightweight wool in a tropical weave (non twill weave, more like a basket weave so its more open and breathable) it is less resilient β meaning it can tend to wrinkle easier in the sleeves and pants. It makes sense as the fabric is just lighter in nature.
On the positive side, lightweight wool suiting feels like wearing AIR. Itβs so breathable and comfortable that you barely even notice itβs there.
Solution: maybe just reserve these suits for the meetings around town, but please, don't wear them on the airplane.
This is a tropical weave and I find to be the most resilient of the light tropical wools, see below Australis Tropical and I also love Wish Super 170βs one, but its finer.
Another way to go is just to embrace the natural wrinkles of wear. Choose a cotton/wool or silk blend that gives the suit some texture and character. The natural fibers can tend to look a bit more casual, but itβs still a bespoke suit. You will look top-notch no matter what. Below are links to some of my favorites. NOTE: Some of these should just be used for jackets only. For pants I would go with a tropical wool or mohair blend:
Then we have the wool-mohair blends for warm weather suiting. These suits of are much more travel-friendly, wrinkle-resistant, and breathable.
Mohair is a natural fiber from the Angora goat offering superior breathability, while also keeping the wearer cool. Mohair in general has more of a coarse and DRY handfeel to it, but we do offer Summer Kid Mohair which has the finest and softest feel around. Wearing mohair is a different experience than wearing a soft silky Italian Wool, which is OKAY, and honestly, kind of preferable in the summer months. Browse some options:
