From the grittiness and incomparable character of a NYC city hall wedding, to the luxury and jaw-dropping coastline of Italyโ€™s Amalfi Coast. Huw and Elizabethโ€™s wedding certainly took a glorious turn for part 2!

This is the cool thing about a layered wedding. It offers the opportunity for multiple different settings and atmospheres. As well as for multiple different looks of course. And what better setting than Italy in the summer time. In our view, itโ€™s still undefeated as far as summer vacation destinations go, and for that matter, as far as summer wedding destinations go. The coastline is majestic, the water is a shade of crystal-clear blue that can be found nowhere else on earth. Then thereโ€™s architecture, the food, the peopleโ€ฆThe list goes on and on. It may be corny, but Italy really is the most romantic place on earth.

But one still has to take account of their surroundings and do it the right way. Huw and Elizabeth absolutely did that for part 2 of their wedding extravaganza. A welcome dinner-and-drinks on the beach at Positano.

Elizabeth wore a soft-green Gucci gown to go with the color of the sea, While for Huw we went with an absolutely classic and timeless example of summertime Italian luxury:

The Beige Linen Suit

Otherwise known as the tan wedding suit, or the cream wedding suit; or just the perfect summer wedding suit. Call it what you will. The point is that as far as menโ€™s suiting goes, thereโ€™s maybe nothing that captures the feel and mood of Italian summer better than the beige linen suit. One gets the feeling that men have been wearing beige linen suits to lavish parties set against sumptuous Italian backdrops for hundreds of years. Linen suits are often associated with Mediterranean and Southern European styles. Choosing a beige linen suit for an Italian summer wedding shows an appreciation for local culture and fashion.

Just ask Italian film director Paolo Sorrentino whose films the Great Beauty and The Hand of God featured many such suits styled against grand summertime soirees.

Or check out the last season of the White Lotus. Linen was all over the place in season 2, set on the Sicilian coast โ€” not far south of Amalfi, and very similar in terms of landscape. Linen stands up on camera perhaps better than any other fabric. Ie., it comes across with a texture and character thatโ€™s basically unparalleled. It just radiates charm. Beige linen suits also tend to have this soft and inviting appearance that photographs beautifully under natural sunlight. The suit's texture and color capture the essence of the summer day and the romantic Italian backdrop. Huwโ€™s cream wedding suit was the perfect example of this, in our opinion.

Linen is timeless and elegant, without being too stiff or formal. It has a much more naturalistic quality than a lot of other suiting fabrics. It crumples and breathes. Perfect, in other words, for a casual summertime settings where shirts are open, ties are nowhere in sight, and the prosecco is flowing.

We also think the linen suit was a great choice for this event because it was essentially a beach cocktail party that transitioned into a rehearsal dinner. Almost nothing is as versatile as linen. Linen suits can effortlessly transition from a daytime wedding ceremony to evening celebrations. Their relaxed yet elegant look adapts well to both formal and more laid-back parts of the event.

The beige or tan color is the other aspect that we think sets Huwโ€™s suit apart. Itโ€™s earthy and in tune with the setting. It radiates a sense of casual cocktail attire, without being cheesy or too casual.

The beige linen suit is also perfect for wedding events set not just on the Italian coastline, but on the beach in general. If youโ€™re in the market for a beach wedding suit, maybe consider beige linen.
